The Universal Humor of ‘I’m Just A Girl,’ ‘Girl Math,’ and ‘Girl Dinner’

In the land of internet culture, trends come and go quicker than fast fashion trends, but some leave a lasting impact that resonates deeply within online communities. Some trends that have been gaining traction recently are the emergence of “I’m Just a Girl,” “Girl Math,” and “Girl Dinner” humor, encapsulating a unique blend of wit, sarcasm, and relatability. These hashtags and memes have become a common expression, usually offering a humorous lens through which to view everyday experiences and challenges faced by women.
I’m Just a Girl
This trend has been ongoing for a while now, but it has recently resurfaced due to the cute sad hamster meme being used within it. When you say “I’m Just a Girl,” it’s essentially using humor to convey a lack of knowledge about complicated things at work, justifying why you may not be familiar with hobbies or activities typically associated with men, or even more so, as an excuse for certain behaviors such as emotional breakdowns, shopping sprees, or engaging in gossip.
Instances I used “I’m Just a Girl” as a response:
- When a friend was telling details about his work on construction sites
- When I was asked when will I stop buying perfumes

Girl Math
“Girl Math,” on the other hand, is a form of humor used to explain situations that only women can truly grasp. It encompasses experiences with men, common fashion dilemmas, and essentially any challenges that women face on a day-to-day basis, which can only be fully understood if you are a woman.
Some of my Girl Maths:
- Girl Math is buying concert tickets now and when the concert date comes, it’s basically free.
- Girl Math is not counting your Sonny Angel collection because they are your babies.

Girl Dinner
The phrase “Girl Dinner” has become associated with a trending phenomenon on TikTok where women opt for snacks as their evening meal instead of traditional entrées. A typical “Girl Dinner” comprises a variety of items such as bread, cheese, fruit, and pickles arranged on a platter. However, it can also encompass any food of your liking, whether it’s your favorite comfort dishes or whatever you are having as a meal at the moment. Some use this to show their weird food combinations, food hacks, and unusual preferences. The more creative the execution, the more it gains attention on social media.
My version of girl dinner:
- Literally just iced coffee
- Sour gummies

Overall, I believe these trends are humorous and provide a sense of girlhood. They are not meant to be taken seriously and should not serve as a basis for judgment against women who participate in these trends.
